The press was eager to jump on initial remarks by U.S. bishops that President Obama's announcement yesterday of what the Wall Street Journal aptly described in an editorial this morning as the "Immaculate Contraception" -- namely, the idea that insurance companies would somehow pay out of their own pockets for costs relating to "contraceptive services" to which the bishops objected to having Catholic institutions pay for directly was "a good first step." I heard this description several times in brief radio news summaries yesterday. Later yesterday afternoon, the bishops' position was reported as "reserving judgment."

In an official statement carried at Vatican Radio's web site ("The Voice of the Pope and the Church in dialogue with the world") this morning, the bishops have rejected Obama's self-described "sensible approach." Especially pertinent, in light of my post earlier this morning, is the fact that the mandate and its revision appear to apply to employers who self-insure -- an option religious institutions have been forced to use to avoid attempts by several U.S. states to mandate what ObamaCare wants to impose on the entire nation

TD Jakes confessed his understanding of the Trinity this week in the James McDonald's Elephant Room 2. The Christian media has covered this event very well. While it appears Jakes has some more progress to make on this issue, we can rejoice that he has made serious strides in the right direction. Depending on what he meant by his words, he may have arrived at a thoroughly biblical conclusion. Biblical Christians everywhere should celebrate, with some caution, Jake's confession of the Trinity.

Jakes went through significant examination and admonition through the years for his previous ambiguity on the Trinity, and he should have. While not all chastised him in the Spirit of Christ, many did. Their work deserves celebration, too, for they held Jakes' accountable and, consequently, he has responded in taking steps in a Trinitarian direction. The largest problem over the last decade of Jakes' journey has not been the criticism Jake's has received; it is that Jakes occupied the pulpit when he did not affirm God as God has defined himself. I fear he presumed upon an office for which he had disqualified himself, and problems of this nature remain with Jakes. The question I have yet to read is this—should Jakes have occupied the pulpit in those years? Should any minister occupy the pulpit without embracing God as God has revealed Himself?

Our Supreme Court managed to tease a right to abortion out of a clause governing legal procedure, didn’t it? Seventy years earlier, a right-wing Court teased a right of contract out of the same provision. If you can do that, there ain’t much you can’t do. In fact, we’re on the cusp right now of Congress being granted a new power to force Americans to buy certain products; the clause responsible for that, which deals with regulating commerce between states, was somehow used a few years ago to reach marijuana grown in someone’s own backyard for their own use — with conservative support, do note. A smart, aggressive judge can make a document say nearly anything. The constitution sets certain goalposts, granted, but there’s a lottttt of space between them for a skilled kicker to aim.

When an expert on autism argued that a new definition of the disorder being prepared by the American Psychiatric Association could restrict the number of patients currently diagnosed as autistic, he set off a firestorm of criticism and debate.

Earlier Thursday, at a medical conference in Iceland, Fred Volkmar, a renowned autism expert and the director of the Yale Child Study Center, had presented a few glimpses of his newest piece of research. Not yet published, his study purports to show that a new set of diagnostic criteria for autism, currently being developed by an expert panel appointed by the American Psychiatric Association, could result in a highly restrictive definition of the disorder, excluding a major portion of those who are currently considered autistic.

Well, as long as Gov. Mitt Romney hesitates to release his taxes the speculation grows.

I think this has a lot to do with the Mormon church and also how many millions above the tithe will be revealed and also the ties to business.

But hey, It's all speculation and worse as the mind conjures up bigger than life scenarios. The big secret is that there are many evangelicals that are not going to vote for a Mormon. That being said, the Democrats know this and that's why the want him to be the nominee.

They know that they win if there is a good percentage of Christians that just aren't going to pull the lever for Mitt.

The vote between Gingrich, Santorum and Perry is the number that would beat Mitt hands down. But here we are again being told to nominate another RINO.

Gov. Rick Perry showed the class act that he is and stepped down before the vote. That speaks vols to the character of the man.

Sen Rick Santorum always looks like something's troubling him. And Newt knocked it out of the park last night at the CNN Debate. Like David Gergan said after the debate, Gingrich swings for the fence, while the others are getting singles and doubles maybe a triple. He got a two-fer slamming John King and the media and I can see Obama's jaw drop while he watched it upstairs in the White House.

Newt knows how to get out of the quicksand. He just stands there and you don't even see the wheels turning and then the sound bite that stings and he has the crowd on their feet. Two standing O's in first five minutes of the ball game. That will tear the skin right off of Obamas face when the Gingrich vs Obama debates begin.

Mark my words, if its Newt, Obama will agree to only one debate.

There's a lot of Mormon PC mentality going on and that's the major reason for the Texas Evangelical conference in Texas. The big guns there telling us it's about picking the most conservative candidate... Well Yeah, but the strongest chosen candidate is actually the weakest among them. I just can't get excited about a Santorum vs Obama debate. Love him and I will vote for him if he's the Nom and I promise, I'll do all I can to get him elected.

Mitt Romney, a good man, man of character a Mormon, clearly has problems beyond just releasing his tax returns.

But, I can go for the man who has turned his life around by Christ and has unpacked the baggage of his life.

I surely want this economy to turn around. I know people are hurting and can't find work.

Barack Obama is pleased that economy in December is trending better for jobs. All of us should rejoice as well and pray it continues.

It would be wonderful if the economy does a radical turn and people are getting up in the morning hitting the road to their jobs.

This president has done nothing to incentivize the job creators. It has everything to do with the American people and their resolve. They are the engine that gets it moving.

Their was a "BUYcott" on Black Friday over the Christmas season that gave it a jolt. It was the equivalent to George Bush's, Go Shopping charge to take it to the terrorist and it worked!
