Dodd-Frank "Reform" Leads Banks to Hike Debit Card Fee

Dodd-Frank "Reform" Leads Banks to Hike Debit Card Fee

"Bank of America customers with basic checking accounts will be hit with a $5 monthly fee in order to use a debit card for purchases, the bank announced Thursday. Banks and card companies have been aggressively establishing and raising fees ...

So in a consumer protection bill, Dodd-Frank, there is a directive that the fee banks charge institutions for using their credit cards be cut in half. I think it's 48 cents down to 24 cents per transaction. So the banks, "Well, okay, we've got to obey that law." So what they're doing is they're making it up somewhere else."

Barone: Time to raise Cain to contender status

Is Herman Cain a serious contender for the Republican presidential nomination? It's a question no one in the pundit world was asking until the past week.

Cain's business success, his "9-9-9" tax plan, his generally conservative stands on issues, the youtube clip showing him debating Bill Clinton on health care in 1994 -- all of these help account for his apparent surge in the polls.

Thomas Lobel, who is now known as Tammy and is aged 11, currently testifies that he always knew he wanted to be a girl. To that end, with his mothers’ blessings he is undergoing hormone blocking treatment to stop him going through puberty.

Mother Pauline told CNN: “As soon as we let him put on a dress, his personality changed from a very sad kid who sat still, didn't do much of anything to a very happy little girl who was thrilled to be alive.”

The Political Pulpit

The Political Pulpit

This weekend, hundreds of pastors, including some of the nation’s evangelical leaders, will climb into their pulpits to preach about American politics, flouting a decades-old law that prohibits tax-exempt churches and other charities from campaigning on election issues.

The sermons, on what is called Pulpit Freedom Sunday, essentially represent a form of biblical bait, an effort by some churches to goad the Internal Revenue Service into court battles over the divide between religion and politics.

THE NEW YORK TIMES

TONY DIGIROLAMO- We've been lied to by the IRS, and all three branches of American government! They have silenced the voice of God in the pulpit, public schools, and the entire fabric of our culture. So much so now that many think from a secular world view.

Federal Control of Education and the Decline of Community

Federal Control of Education and the Decline of Community

Detailing the long history of this centralization movement from a few Northeastern States back in the American Founding Era, to present day, we learn that most all of these prior efforts, whatever their intent, pretty much left the locals in control, which meant strong parental involvement, a supportive sense of community, and a healthy resistance to unwanted and unsought after outside controls. Of the latter, he said, this acted as a preserving influence in favor of the balance of power between state and federal, and local and state powers, as guaranteed under our Constitution.

The American Founders ... were wary of national involvement in education...

New Fast and Furious docs released by White House

Late Friday, the White House turned over new documents in the Congressional investigation into the ATF "Fast and Furious" gunwalking scandal.

The documents show extensive communications between then-ATF Special Agent in Charge of the Phoenix office Bill Newell - who led Fast and Furious - and then-White House National Security Staffer Kevin O'Reilly. Emails indicate the two also spoke on the phone. Such detailed, direct communications between a local ATF manager in Phoenix and a White House national security staffer has raised interest among Congressional investigators looking into Fast and Furious.

Bombshell: DOJ Considering Elimination of ATF

Multiple sources, including sources from ATF, DOJ and Congressional offices have said there is a white paper circulating within the Department of Justice, outlining the essential elimination of ATF. According to sources, the paper outlines the firing of at least 450 ATF agents in an effort to conduct damage control as Operation Fast and Furious gets uglier and as election day 2012 gets closer.

...When I called the Department of Justice last week (five times) to request the white paper and receive a comment surrounding the idea of eliminating ATF, I received the following response: “Everyone is away from their desk right now.”
