Fundies planning "America for Jesus" rally in Philly

Fundies planning "America for Jesus" rally in Philly

Late Sunday, a group of fundie leaders announced plans to hold a prayer rally at Philadelphia's Independence Mall on September 28 and 29 under the moniker "America for Jesus 2012." It looks innocuous on the surface--it's billed as "a solemn assembly to summon together the whole body of Christ to pray for the church and our nation" and intercede against "the symptoms of widespread moral depravity and economic meltdown."

In a major understatement, People for the American Way calls this gathering "nonpolitical in name only." It isn't exactly a coincidence that this is taking place 40 days before the election.

DAILY KOS

TONY DIGIROLAMO- THIS IS HOW THE LEFT VIEWS AN EVENT CALLED "AMERICA FOR JESUS 2012".

First of all, the dates for the event were given by the city of Philadelphia. The dates which the organizers wanted were rejected. It is Providential, not coincidental, that the dates that the mayor's office gave were "40 days" before the election.

Second, the rally in every respect is being wrongly accused that it is political. This America for Jesus 2012, I can tell you IS NOT POLITICAL!

Third, in the meetings anything that can be misconstrued as political is rejected.

At the NRB any and all discussions and directions is that America for Jesus 2012 IS NOT POLITICAL!

To those at the Daily Kos and People for the American Way, no, you've got it all wrong ...
