President Barack Obama is taking action against Texas by denying Medicaid funds for low-income women's healthcare because the state refuses to send the money to abortion providers. But Gov. Rick Perry asserts that women in his state won't be denied such services because of Washington's loyalty to Planned Parenthood.
In accordance with SB 7, which passed during the June 2011 special session, the state has decided against granting Planned Parenthood its annual $17 million because it provides abortions (see earlier story). Rachel Bohannon of Texas Right to Life believes the Obama administration is cutting off Texas because officials know what will happen when abortion providers are denied the money.
