THE AFRICAN AMERICAN VOTER AND MARTIN LUTHER KING JR.

THE AFRICAN AMERICAN VOTER AND MARTIN LUTHER KING JR.

By Tony DiGirolamo

LET'S TALK ABOUT THE AFRICAN AMERICAN VOTER THEY TOO HOLD THE KEY TO THIS VITAL ELECTION. HEARING THE VOICE OF REVEREND MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. WILL GIVE THEM PAUSE AS THEY ENTER THE VOTING BOOTH. PAUSE TO VOTE ON THE MAN'S "CHARACTER AND NOT ON THE COLOR OF HIS SKIN."

And if Bishop T.D. Jakes would only speak with courage on this precious time in history as did Rev. King, I believe that it will be the black community that will show the strength of their faith and honor the man so deserving.

There are some in the African American community, like Bishop Harry Jackson, Hope Christian Church, has spoken out on Pulpit Freedom Sunday and he announced from the pulpit that he was not voting for President Obama.

This sentiment is growing.

President Obama's support of Same-sex Marriage set a firestorm.

Reverend Bill Owens, the Coalition of African-American Pastors says, "The president is in the White House because of the civil rights movement" we're disappointed in the presidents position on marriage. Disappointment should really turn to outrage. The president never answered these pastors for a meeting and never even answered their letter to him.

The Coalition of African American Pastors (CAAP) consists of 3,742 African American pastors, and "he has totally ignored us,” Owens said.

He said Obama is ignoring the black community “because he feels that he has us in his pocket.”

“Well, we are not in his pocket,” Owens said.

Let me return to those important words on the "Character and not on the color of their skin" And expand on that to this other important aspect of the election.

Some of the black pastors, some, are saying they're not voting for the president and they cannot vote for a Romney.

But let me remind those who hold that view of this vital Word from God.

Mark 9: 38-41 and the verse 40 needing a shout out across America: Jesus said, "If he is not against us then he is for us".

In this election Mitt Romney has shown himself to be for the same Christian values all of the pastors above embrace.
Mitt Romney will not trample on the Constitution, Free Speech or Freedom of Religion but will return respect to the religious community.
Mitt Romney is not against us he's for us.
This is very important note to Rev. Owens, you have the right to tell people who you are voting for and even make known to your congregation that they should do the same. That's free speech and freedom of religion.
I too am saddened that our nations first black president has taken the path he's chosen.
But I appreciate these African-American pastors with the courage of Martin Luther King Jr, and it speaks volumes of the words he spoke in Truth:
"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character."
Powerful words!
These pastors are judging this president on the "Content of his character not on the color of his skin".
It's what the fought, and died for ... And they do it selflessly for all of God's children.
They are doing the honorable thing to further bring honor to the man so revered in America's hearts and minds.
