Teen girls' mystery illness now has a diagnosis: mass hysteria

The day after TODAY reported on the baffling case of 12 teenage girls at one school who mysteriously fell ill with Tourette's-like symptoms of tics and verbal outbursts, a doctor who is treating some of the girls has come forward to offer an explanation. Dr. Laszlo Mechtler, a neurologist in Amherst, N.Y., says the diagnosis is "conversion disorder," or mass hysteria

TODAY SHOW

TONY DIGIROLAMO-

"'MASS HYSTERIA', NOW THERE'S A GOOD NAME FOR THIS 'DISEASE'"!

And a great name for a movie ... I think Wes Craven is already writing the script for this horror flick.

The problem is psychologists are all over the map with their "Pscience" and "guessagnosis". That's why it took so long. They couldn't get a consensus and they ended up going with a neurologist to give it credibility.

The definition for "Mass Hysteria": A condition in which a large group of people exhibit similar physical or emotional symptoms, such as anxiety or extreme excitement. Also called epidemic hysteria.

In other words they have no clue! It's a guess. It could be faked ... It must of happened to thousands of girls when Elvis and the Beatles rocked the nation ... Yeah, "Mass Hysteria" such a disease.

This is just off the charts calling this science.

"Let's go to the Huffington Post on this: As reported by TODAY news, local neurologist Dr. Laszlo Mechtlerhas has now advanced a diagnosis of the mystery illness, stating that it is a rare case of mass hysteria. Mass hysteria -- now referred to as conversion disorder -- was first identified in 1895 when Freud published a collection of case studies on women with unusual symptoms with no apparent cause.

Case Studies of women?!

Huff post continues: "Dr. Mechtler told TODAY, "It's happened before, all around the world, in different parts of the world. It's a rare phenomena. Physicians are intrigued by it.""

Physicians are intrigued by it ... Really?

Huff Post: "The symptoms of conversion disorder -- a condition which causes its sufferers to express psychological distress through physical movement of the body -- can last for weeks, but can be cured through psychiatric or psychological treatment."

On Fox News psychologists Dr Keith Ablo and another psychologists, side by side talking heads on this news about these girls and they couldn't agree. You could clearly see Ablo ticked off by what his colleague was saying.

Really people this Freud madness has got to come to an end soon.
