Fla. prayer law reinforces constitutional right

A conservative, non-profit legal group that defends religious freedoms disagrees with a news story that suggests many schools will ignore Florida's new school prayer law.

International Business Times reporter Ashley Portero says Florida's "inspirational message" legislation, which officially took effect Sunday, July 8, is unlikely to be implemented by most public schools. SB 98 allows students to read and recite inspirational messages at mandatory school events, including graduations, assemblies and sporting events. She suggests it was passed for political reasons -- specifically, to boost Republicans this election year.
